Hear, hear. And the NYT article linked in the post is absolutely heartbreaking and horrible. I also just read a dude’s blog who’s going blind because he can’t afford surgery to treat his glaucoma (LOVE the blog name, btw). This is especially striking to me because we just visited a friend who had to take her baby to the ER tonight - thankfully, they have wonderful insurance, but even she was saying that they’ve spent a ton of money on healthcare since he was born (not that she was complaining!). I don’t expect Obama to totally fix this right now, but I’m really hoping there’s some kind of improvement in the next few years. (And yes, I know about all of the issues with the cost of healthcare in the US because of all of our technology and treating everything possible, etc… There just must be some better way to do it. [I am nowhere near smart enough to hazard a guess as to how, though.])
